One of my favorite things about blogging is that their is a community of bloggers out there that help each promote each other’s blogs. One of the best ways to do this is at www.blogcarnival.com.

Here is how this works, I write a great post, and Liz reads it and then my readership would pretty much stop there. BUT WAIT THERE’S MORE!!

The “link” where YooperSmith learned about money

I gave my co-worker, Liz, some advice today. I said, “Liz, you need to take that money you have out of that annuity (ummm?) and put it in a self directed brokerage account so you can invest in some index based stock mutual funds and ETFs.” (or something like that). Then I showed her how much money I was making doing just that.

Liz asked me where I learned about investing and money…ha ha you have to click!

Step 0: What do you think about money?

I have an admission. I am the “spender” in my family. Before I married my AWESOME wife Yayoi, I had wracked up well over $10k of credit card debt. Wait a second, let me write that again and put all the zeros behind to get the message through: OVER $10,000!! And what were the life changing purchases that required me to go so far into debt? Hmm, well it’s been about 14 years, but here is a short list of what I remember buying with my credit card:

Dreams are great, when they lead you to ACTION!

Today I took some very fun ACTIONS:

  • Paid about $512 to start YooperSmith.com, LLC.
  • Signed up for Google AdSense
  • Added 1 ad unit to my Home page
  • Added a google search to my Home page.

I did most of these things WHILE watching the packer game, wearing shorts and slippers. :-)

Oh yeah, I want my webpage to provide value to my readers, and in turn for FREE valuable content, my intent is to get PAID with google AdSense and other passive income streams.

THANKS! to Liz T from work. All she said was, “Update your web page, it’s cool”. So, I thought, um ok. :-) Inspiration comes from many places, I guess you just have to listen for it.

Step 2: Pay off your Credit Cards

Note:????This is the second step??to financial freedom,??I??figured out that I had already written it before I figured I wanted to write a series.?? There is some duplicated story telling in here, so sorry for that,??but the information is still relevant.??

Everything I know about finance and investing I owe to the good folks at the Motley Fool (www.fool.com). One of their guiding principles is everyone should learn to ???live below your means???. Now that sounds simple, but this is actually more difficult than it sounds on the surface. For me this means that your monthly income should be more than your monthly outgoing payments. The first step in living below your means is to get out of debt, specifically credit card debt.
